A place of transformation and divine mercy
Chand Kazi was a Muslim magistrate who once tried to stop the Sankirtan movement of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. He even broke the mridanga (drum) to discourage the chanting of the holy names. In response, Mahaprabhu organized a massive kirtan procession with thousands of devotees and went to meet Chand Kazi. What followed was not conflict, but transformation. After a deep and respectful discussion, Chand Kazi’s heart changed. He accepted the chanting of the holy names and promised that neither he nor his descendants would ever oppose the Sankirtan movement again.
Visiting Chand Kazi Samadhi reminds us of the power of compassion and understanding. This is not just a historical site, but a place that teaches us how hearts can change through humility and devotion. The atmosphere is peaceful, and many devotees reflect here on the importance of tolerance and the universal message of the holy name. It inspires us to spread Krishna consciousness with kindness and wisdom.
