Jagai Madhai Ghat

The place of forgiveness and transformation

The Story of Jagai and Madhai

Jagai and Madhai were known as two of the most sinful and violent men in Navadvip. They were drunk, aggressive, and opposed to devotional activities. One day, Lord Nityananda Prabhu approached them with compassion, asking them to chant the holy name and give up their sinful ways. Instead, Madhai attacked Nityananda Prabhu and injured Him. When Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu heard this, He became angry and invoked His Sudarshan Chakra. But Nityananda Prabhu intervened, begging Mahaprabhu to forgive them. Touched by such mercy, Jagai and Madhai fell at the Lord’s feet and surrendered completely. They were forgiven and transformed into great devotees.
