The birthplace of the Sankirtan movement
Srivas Angan is one of the most sacred places in Navadvip, where Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu performed His intimate kirtans with His closest associates. This was the home of Srivas Thakur, a great devotee of the Lord. Every night, Mahaprabhu and His associates would gather here and perform ecstatic kirtan, filling the entire place with divine love. These kirtans were not ordinary — they were full of spiritual power, devotion, and the presence of the Lord Himself.
Visiting Srivas Angan feels like stepping into the pastimes of Mahaprabhu. The atmosphere is deeply spiritual and filled with a sense of sacred history. Many devotees sit here and chant, remembering the powerful kirtans that once took place in this very courtyard. It is a place where you can feel the origin of the Sankirtan movement and connect deeply with the mood of devotion and surrender.
